Hydroquinone (para-dihydroxybenzene, benzene-1,4-diol, quinol) is an aromatic organic compound, a representative of diatomic phenols with the chemical formula C6H4(OH)2, an isomer of pyrocatechin and resorcinol.
Used when:
photometric determination of niobium and tungsten;
titrimetric determination of gold and caesium ions;
when determining the pH using the method of a hingidron electrode, for which a hingidron is prepared in the form of an equimolar mixture of quinone and hydroquinone.
